Its like a crazy fruit parade around here…

We’ve been quite adventurous in the produce department, but have not yet been rewarded with anything as flavorful as the incomparable Ugandan pineapple. The fruits here are very beautiful looking, spikes, unexpected color combinations (fuchsia, lime green, white flesh, black seeds…have we stumbled into a Doctor Suess book?) but they are rather bland. We’ve tried pomelo, star fruit, and this strange cross between an artichoke and a cantaloupe. No one can really tell me what it might be called in English, but if anyone cares to guess, I’d be happy to know! The one exception is the yellow mango, which is totally delightful. We’ve been eating it for breakfast every morning mixed with egg fried rice. HuYi helped us buy some green tea, so we’re drinking a big mug of that each morning too. Hello antioxidants. I'll be sure to keep you posted on our culinary adventures!
