Our little Adobe

After I published my jewel box post, I realized I hadn't given you the full tour yet. Allow me to remedy that.

Adobe homes a well suited to the extremes of dessert life. They are made from local clay and straw and they retain heat during the cold nights and stay cool during the sunny days. So far, it has been very snug.

A few of our own things to make it feel like home.

My new studio space.

The kitchen- we'll be spending a lot more time here since the nearest restaurant is 40 minutes away! The only quirk so far is the oven- it gives a good blast of heat initially but loses steam pretty quickly. I think I can get it to do one batch of cookies, but a full turkey is right out.

This wood stove is what will be keeping us warm this winter. Eric has been busy cutting up wood (with a chainsaw! So manly!) and I've been stacking it into a little pile. Its nice to have something so tangible to show for a day of work.

beautiful! hope you're splitting the wood as you go..re the turkey, maybe quarter with your chinese cleaver, microwave and then finish in the oven? or grill? I have a cookbook of recipes for cooking over an open fire using cast iron pots and things...very colonial.
loves,
mom

So beautiful and cozy. Charming as Cozy posted. Love all of the wood. Where do you live? Looks like there is not a tree, or other homes/people anywhere around.

Thanks for peaking everyone. I feel like this has been a little virtual house warming party. Thank you!
