My computer and I are taking some time apart while I'm busy making things with thread and felt and sequins (and my glue gun...)
It was probably silly to make a tree skirt in China where the odds are good that I won't be able to find a Christmas tree to put it under...I found this little kit almost two years ago and am only now finishing it up.
It was originally from the seventies and intended to make a wall hanging. I don't really do burlap wall hangings, no matter what season it is or how many sequins have been applied. So I cut it up and made this little tree skirt. I think it turned out really nicely, but I have to admit my new Chinese seamstress was of great assistance (since I don't have my sewing machine here.) She hemmed the skirt for me and added the little tie.
These squares illustrate the 12 Days of Christmas Carol. On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me a partridge in a pear tree.
On the second day of Christmas my true love gave to me two turtle doves.
On the third day of Christmas my true love gave to me three French hens.
On the fourth day of Christmas my true love gave to me four calling birds.
On the fifth day of Christmas my true love gave to me five golden rings.
On the sixth day of Christmas my true love gave to me six geese a laying.
On the seventh day of Christmas my true love gave to me seven swans a swimming.
On the eight day of Christmas my true love gave to me eight maids a milking.
On the ninth day of Christmas my true love gave to me nine ladies dancing.
On the tenth day of Christmas my true love gave to me ten lords a leaping.
On the eleventh day of Christmas my true love gave to me eleven pipers piping.
On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love gave to me twelve drummers drumming.
Isn't it funny how you can always remember everything before the five golden rings, but after that it begins to get a little hazy? Probably because you repeat those over and over and over again. More posts on the way. Hope you are feeling in the holiday spirit.
