I picked up a wonderful little tome the other day called “You can Never Find a Rickshaw When it Monsoons” by children’s book author Mo Willems. I first discovered him while nannying last summer. Gabriel and Samara loved loved loved his book “Knufflebunny” and I loved the kooky illustrations and the adult punch lines.
Anyway, before embarking on his children’s book career, he spent a year backpacking around the world. Every day he drew a comic to sum up one memorable scene or event from the day. They are simple, bold, witty and wonderful. He has also written a delightful commentary which adds a whole new layer to the book, sort of like his current self talking to his younger self. All in all, quite enjoyable and recommendable.
