Homemade Applesauce in Thirty Minutes

My grandmother makes applesauce every fall with the bruised fruit that falls from the two trees in her backyard. Her version takes a long time on the stove, but I’ve discovered a quicker method:

4 apples peeled and chopped
2 tablespoons butter
¼ cup apple cider
Cinnamon and sugar to taste

Put everything in a rice cooker. When apples are tender, puree in food processor. My Grandmother loves to top it with marshmallows- strange at first, but delightful when it begins to melt into the piping hot cinnamon-y sauce. This makes four servings. Happy Fall!

  1. Sounds like a must try! Marshmallows... seems strange at first but upon pondering it a bit it actually makes sense!
