Join our Virtual Book Club: Eat Pray Love!
Have you ever been part of a book club? Me neither. But my girlfriends and I have just started one. Want to join us? We're reading "Eat, Pray, Love" this summer so that we can go see the movie (starring Julia!) that comes out this August.
After we read each section, we'll be having a themed pot luck celebrating the cuisine of that place. (The book begins in Italy, moves on to India and finishes in Indonesia. Yum, Yum and Yum!) If you decide to join in the fun, (but don't live here in Hawaii) we can chat about the book right here on The Fab Miss B! The first discussion (of the "Eat" section) will take place after June 20th. Here's the preview to whet your appetites:
Happy reading darlings!
WOW, that was an incredible preview! I love Julia Roberts, she has always been my favorite actress. And, my friend gave me that book over a year ago and I still have not read it! I think this is perfect timing! I am not in Hawaii, but I will try to join in as much as possible! Thanks for the push into reading this book!
ReplyDeleteoooo...I've been thinking about reading this and I'll have TONS more time this summer so I think I'll read along!
ReplyDeleteI'm so torn. I HATED the book. I mean HATED. I barely got past the "eat" section. So unbelievable. So comical. So ridiculous. I LOVE Julia so I might see the movie...I'm hoping that they made her likable.
ReplyDeleteI love a book club but this book didn't do it for me either. Love to play along on the next tho
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun idea! I've read the book...so it will be interesting to find out what you think about it! Book clubs are fun! ♥
ReplyDeleteSo glad to know some of you are going to join in the fun.
ReplyDeleteTo the dissenters: I sympathize. The author can sometimes be self-indulgent, but overall I feel that she is doing her best to be very honest and I always admire that in self-reflection. I'm only halfway through the Eat section, but the idea of finding a balance between pleasure and asceticism really appeals to me. Can't wait for that final section that is supposed to tie the two together!
