Have you ever used shoe clips? I remember seeing them a lot as a kid- they usually involved grosgrain ribbon and big pearls edged in gold rope. Suffice it to say, they were not elegant. But, pick the right pair and inject a little whimsy into your wardrobe and freshen up a boring pair of shoes.
Forgive these "
stupid pictures of feet". It's darn hard to take a photo of shoes you are wearing! These are vintage earrings that I didn't wear much, so I simply hot glued them to a pair of shoe clips and...
I think it makes these retro inspired heels (snagged on clearance at Target this summer for $6.95!) just right for spring. Here's to re-invention! Have you found new uses for old things lately?
Oooo, great idea! Those are fab.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying very hard to figure out what to do with things I haven't worn for a while or how how to recreate a few pieces of clothes. Fun to think about, but hard for me to do, haha.
ReplyDeleteThese are great, but where do you find shoe clips? I have a bunch of my grandmother's clip-on earings that I don't wear but think are just lovely... I would love to do this too.
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly-
ReplyDeleteI found the metal shoe clip pieces at the thrift store- still in the original packaging- for .35 cents! A google search yielded this result:

Make sure to show us how yours turn out!
wow - so cute!!!! I need them!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! Stop on by and link up at Make it Wear it on TheTrainToCrazy.com.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I LOVE these! Great color combo. I have oodles of old earrings I could use to make my own clips but lacked the clips themselves--so big thanks for finding a source so I can order some!
ReplyDeleteHi there,
ReplyDeleteI love the idea, great for boring, traditional pumps this summer.
I just have one request - could you please e-mail me the name of the shoes you are wearing? I searched Target.com but they were all out.
Thanks for all the great ideas on your blog :)
Hi Lienna-
ReplyDeleteSorry, I don't have your e-mail address! The shoes were from Target last summer, so they are probably all sold out now. I snagged them for $8! They have amazing clearance items if you are regularly prowling the aisles like I do!
