Toi et Moi Giveaway!

Although February is usually the glummest month of the year in my book, (as well as in Margaret Atwood's) I do enjoy Valentine's Day. Who doesn't love a day that's all about love? So in that spirit, I'm offering this pretty trinket. A golden heart on a toggle clasp by Catherine Popesco emblazoned "Toi et Moi" ("you and me" for those of us who slept through elementary French). So leave me a comment describing a thoughtful gesture that made you feel truly loved. Happy February Fourteenth and may the best comment win!

I was divorced and working almost full-time trying to raise my two young sons (one in 1st grade and the other in 4th). I didn't have any help financially or otherwise from my ex. My mother, who also works full-time, was helping me constantly with baby-sitting so I could work. I met a nice guy and we were dating for a couple months. I mentioned to him how bad I felt always imposing on my mother in her free time to watch my sons and he said "I wanted to volunteer to watch them while you work but I didn't want you to think I was weird or anything. I'd love to help you". From that day on, he treated my sons just like they were his own .

We've been married for 15 years now and that moment he volunteered his babysitting services was when I knew he was someone special and was doing it just for me. Both my sons call him "Dad" (their choice). You can't measure love by the material things; it's the things that are done for you from the heart that are the true yardstick of someone's love. From taking my car to the gas station to put air in my tires or throwing my work uniform in the washing machine when I'm sleeping between double shifts, those things mean more than any present he could give me.

I feel truly loved when my husband comes home from a long day of work and focuses ALL of his attention on me.

My husband is deployed right now and before he left he hid little notes around the house telling me how much he loved me. It was so special to find each and every one

When I was in college, I was leaving for a semester to intern in DC. I was completely heartsick at the thought of leaving everything I loved and missing a whole semester of being with my best friends/roommates. As I was packing my final box I heard them calling my name from downstairs. As I came down the stairs the song "Escape" by Enrique Iglesias was playing on the stereo and all of my roommates were performing a choreographed dance to the song… They all sang, “you can run, you hide, but you can’t escape my love!” I’ve never been so overwhelmed by love. Now we’ve all gone our separate ways in life and we only get together once or twice a year, but we still have our song. To this day every time I hear “Escape” I think of them and choke up a little.
