Thanks to Abby's post, I've spent a good part of the afternoon making our Beijing photos into miniatures via the Tilt Shift Maker. It's making my hankering for a dollhouse worse than ever. When I showed these to E, he said, "I don't get it. What makes it look tiny?" What do you think? Do they look like itsy bitsy models, or not so much? Check out the flickr group for even more.

the first one does look small, but the rest of them look normal but blurry...

It IS fun! I just tried it with a pic of a frozen waterfall that I took over Christmas :) I think they stuff in focus looks small b/c the blurriness around the edges makes it look like you're looking at them from under a magnifying glass. Cool!

I think miniatures are often brightly colored, so these work because they are colorful. Also the depth of field in a miniature is incredibly shallow, so the area of focus is quite narrow- hence the blurry edges. Looking at these now, i feel that the rickshaw image is the least successful as a miniature, possibly because of the figures in the image and the natural looking light. My husband may disagree, but these definitely look tiny to me!
