Photo Editing Dilemma; You Decide Contest!

Good photography is what separates the best from the rest in the blogosphere. I've been having lots of fun shooting images to share with you, and I've started tweaking them a bit in photoshop while I'm at it. Every now and then, once I've finished editing, I can't quite make up my mind about which version of an image to use. Here is an example:

In the original shot, the woman in the steam is as much a part of the scene as the gentleman waiting for his noodles.

In the cropped version, the woman doing the cooking becomes the focal point- the steam adding an ephemeral, magical feel.

I'm not sure which I prefer. What do you think? Post a comment with your vote and I'll send one lucky respondent a stash of my vintage photo greeting cards like the one below. Happy voting!

I really like the woman alone. It brings home the feeling of being there, instead of just watching.

I like the cropped photo best :) The focus is on the woman and she seems almost dream-like through the steam!

I like the cropped image better. BTW I ALWAYS edit my photos in Photoshop.

Definitely the cropped one. The focus is on the woman, not the bystander.

Tough Choice! I like the context of the first one with the customer man, but the second one of just the woman is more moving, more transcendent.
So I guess I vote for the second, cropped photo.

I vote the cropped photo. It puts more emphasis, and I like that.

I like the top one better - it makes me wonder if the man and woman are in conversation and what maybe being said. Also I love the umbrella peeking into the shot from the left...makes the woman's work seem so popular with others awaiting her stuff.

These two versions really tell two different stories. My favorite is the cropped one with the woman...it draws me in more while he wider shot lets me sit back as an observer. Very nice picture, btw.

personally, I think you should recrop it to include both the man and the woman. Just take away all the outside stuff so it feels like they are the only two people in the whole world. It might now work at all though, and if that is the case i like just the woman.

I like the cropped best. It's timeless in a way.

I have to say I like the woman alone and have to agree with others by saying the woman is the main focus of the photo.

She looks so mysterious. :-)

Hard choice, because each photo brings something to the scenery. Overall I like the one with the man in it, but think you could've cropped the umbrella out more like the one with just the woman.

Even though both shots are great.
