When I listen to Eartha Kitt, I am utterly mesmerized. Charisma doesn't even begin to describe what she had. When I watch this clip, I have to laugh at the expensive, overdone, miniature movie production, fluff pieces that most pop music videos are now. Look at what she can do with just a prim little dress, a tiger skin rug, her hands (so expressive!) her face (like a cartoon!) and that growly voice. Divine.
Love Eartha and Pumpkin, my four year old daughter, now is a brand new fan of hers as well. Thanks for this post and bringing more wonderful music for Pumpkin's ears :)
"I have to laugh at the expensive, overdone, miniature movie production, fluff pieces that most pop music videos are now." If this supposed to be a shot at Lady Gaga let me state I don't care for it.
Aw, Nick. I would never rag on Lady Gaga. At the very least, I think her self-presentation is really interesting. I'm just comparing the subtlety, nuance and charisma of a performance like this- which probably cost $200 to shoot- with the spectacle and "meh" factor of so many contemporary performances. Sometimes less is more.
She is the epitome of sassy, in the best possible way.
Also, in response to your comment on my blog, I can't believe that there is not any shopping within a reasonable distance for you! I guess that's what you've gotta deal with in Hawaiian paradise...

I love this so hard. I may just steal it and put it on something of mine.
